Transitional Housing
Youth experiencing a housing crisis need support networks to foster a safe, nurturing transition into the responsibilities of adulthood. Transitional housing provides youth with the time, a safe space and access to supports in order to complete their education, get a job, and learn the life skills necessary for independence.
Durham Youth Services operates two transitional houses. Jacky’s Place, a 4-bed transitional home for youth aged 16 – 18, and Harris House, an 8-bed transitional home for youth aged 19 – 24.
Participants in our Transitional Housing program are referred from the Region of Durham’s By-Name List.
